People grow up in different cultures and ideals, and that leads to different worldviews and inspirations for many. With differences all throughout peoples personalities, you can't immediately fully understand others. But through learning what their culture is, you can work to understand them more.

Working on the vision is a little tough, especially with such wide perimeters around the whole thing. We're narrowing down what exactly we want out of the camp, but with no real limits on time frame, participant amounts, accessible budget vs what we can make later, and what supplies we can get, planning is a little rough. I want to try to find a way to let kids do everything because I personally liked doing everything in my vapa camps and I would get really stressed just choosing one part of the whole thing, but it also makes sense to let kids choose a focus for the camp.

We FINALLY worked out the full Vision, Mission, Values part of the presentation and are now working on set up of the actual camp. I'm excited to start working in small groups or separately on specific parts of the camp. I've been jotting down some ideas in the doc, but since we weren't supposed to get that specific yet I kept them there. I have some ideas about camp schedule and some crafts we can do :)

I spent most of today drawing, which was nice. We have some logo ideas and whatnot to go into official work soon. It'll be fun to see the completed logo (but I think that with how to logo is looking so far we may have to change the aesthetic of the website to less 'graphic designer' to 'summer camp for kids')

It took a lot more brainwork than I thought it would to come up with music-themed activities that tie to music directly (and may have planned out just some lessons) but I think it'll be fun! Hopefully we can use instruments for the camp

Yuki and I worked on writing up applications and drafting the schedule for what the campers day might look like. This is still a first draft and we'll have to alter it for days when we have special events and whatnot. I'm also unsure if we're allowed to type up certain documents, but we did what seems like the documents we can type up no problem.

The call today was a little longer than most of this week, which is good. We had more questions to ask because we've been doing more work overall. Working on the schedule with Yuki was pretty fun. We have some new ideas to bring up, like every Friday having half of the day as some sort of event/field trip (it works better overall with number of focuses and allowing the kids more summer experiences)

I've always been interested in music design and whatnot for movies and games and through researching it more for the camp, I'm definitely getting passionate about it again. I'm trying to make sure that what I'm doing will also be interesting to the campers, since I know I can't just info-dump on these kids all the details about a movie or games soundtrack. Hopefully if they choose the music focus they get how important this stuff is and don't see it as boring!

I worked on my own on the slideshows for the various music topics that are more lessons than they are activities. I'm trying to include activities in the lessons (like having them try improv with jazz solos and whatnot) to keep it interesting, along with videos instead of having counselors just talk at them (good too if we need a counselor to cover the group who doesn't know much about music). It's a little time consuming finding a good video that doesn't get boring quickly. I hope we can figure out a permission slip to send home about vulgarity in videos, because Polygon has some wonderfully informative videos about sound design in video games but they do swear (just a tad). I'll try to work on that with Yuki (It'll probably be similar to the permission slips for kids to watch certain movies in class)

I missed the first call yesterday due to my permit test, but made up for it with a few calls later in the day. I had them recount to me what I missed in the first call and worked on materials with Lauren and the counselor schedule with Yuki. We've started linking some of the materials on the doc and started adding prices for things that we need for the camp.

I worked a lot today on learning more about sound design to make my slideshows and what videos to add. I think I'll have to add more speaker notes in the slideshows for other people to be able to present them without my full directions. I hope other people find this as interesting as I do, learning about music composition was always something I wanted to learn in music classes but was never a focus for the rest of my classmates. It is honestly super fascinating. I also added more to the materials list and started adding more prices to be totaled up in the end (I hope shipping and tax doesn't become a huge issue?)

Working around what I understand about the work and what other people understand about it is tough. Lessons and slides tend to work well, but only if the person presenting understands what it is that they need to explain. I've also been falling into the pit of trying to find the balance of interesting and informative, and trying to think about what other people find interesting. I started by just creating the basic slideshows, but now I have to go through and explain my thought process more in the speaker notes.

The jobs I have left to do are some of the more repetitive jobs, and I need to make sure I can keep up my focus on it without zoning out. The materials list is partially complete, but I'm hoping to completely finish the list and tally everything up. I'll figure out some sort of average to add for shipping on some items so the total isn't super far off, but a lot of the shipping was low or free, so I'm likely to put too high of a number.

I worked a little less today than other days, but still more than three hours (which is nice!). I did more work for the slideshows, but I'm hitting that rut of having only activities left that are more LESSONS than activities I know I have to write lesson plans up as well, because if I didn't then another counselor wouldn't be able to follow along, but it's hard to figure out how I should format it along with the games. I'll probably make a separate folder in music activities for lesson plans.

More of the same, finishing up on the materials list and activity plans. I didn't have any meetings today (aside from the large group one) and had a bit of a later start today than the rest of the week. There's so many things that we want to do with the camp, but I'm not sure how much is fully possible.

Yesterday I worked on completing the materials list, so it should be all done (except for any new attachments and the things I'm uncertain on how to price). My activities should be done, aside from any edits and just a bit of the slideshows

The start of the camp is really fun! I’m excited to work on videos and whatnot with Morgan for the website and the campers. I’m probably still going to chill with Lauren in her focus group for the time being, aside from whenever I’m working on the model yampa flowers for the end project with the yampers. I hope it continues to run smoothly!

We’ve been getting closer with the yampers, the less talkative ones have definitely come out of their shell a bit more. The final project is starting to come together a bit more, but it’s still a little rough around the edges. Hopefully it’ll smooth out soon though with more work being finished up!

This week went by pretty quickly, our final projects are coming to a close (but still feels like we don’t have enough time) and Morgan and I are working on the interviews. Hopefully we’ll get those done in time.

We had a good few final performances! The kids were really excited about it and it was fun to see it all come together (despite the small hiccup or two). I’m glad the camp can run for the next few summers as well!
