Over the coursw of this week I feel like I have had a lot of learning experiences and also a lot of fun. I genuinely enjoy all of the things we are doing and meeting and learning about the kids. I learned that you have to set boundaries pretty quickly with middle schoolers or they will exploite it, which is fine. I also have been having kind of a hard time convincing myself that anyone wants me around at camp? But that is probably more of a me thing to deal with and I think I'm good now. I'm really excited about how everything is going to turn out and to work on their ideas and see where it goes. So far everyday has brought something new and exciting, and I am really enjoying myself.
Last week there was quite a bit of struggle when it came to our focus group. Specifically Merrick and I's theatre group is very hard to control, they are sort of loud and unruly and we are having a hard time with them. I personally am having a hard time mentally cause it makes me feel like I am doing a bad job but I think that is personally something I just have to deal with. That is not really anyone elses problem. But we brainstormed as a group and we got some good advice and last week I would have said hopefully it works but it did work overall
After doing the entire camp, gaining that experience and taking a while to understand what it all means to me. Overall it was a great experience, we got to meet and really care about these kids and what they wanted and understand and got to do. It felt really important and I am really grateful to have this experience and the memories that come with it.
